Zentangle Diva’s Challenge #204 – Valentangle – Bright Blue Sea Edition

Zentangle Diva's Valentangle challenge

Let me start by apologizing to all my Canadian, northern US friends and northern European friends for posting this from the Caribbean Sea aboard a cruise ship, the Celebrity Silhouette. If it looks like a lot of people are missing where you live in Canada, I want to assure you that they probably were not abducted by aliens, it’s because they’re all here on board the Celebrity Silhouette with us. Definitely, the second language aboard this vessel is Quebecois and I’m hearing things like, “I keep in shape playing hockey. Eh?” (somebody actually said this) and “Aboat what time to do you want to have lunch?” Who can blame them for taking a break from the frozen tundra.

For obvious reasons, this week’s challenge by the Zentangle Diva, Laura Harms, is to post a Valentangle in honor of Valentine’s Day which is next Sunday. (PS: No need to be in the dog house. There’s still plenty of time to order flowers on-line for your beloved, people.)  You can read the specifics of the challenge and find links to other tanglers’ challenge responses here.

Next Sunday will be our penultimate day on this ship in warm waters. So, this week’s challenge gave me a good excuse to make a Valentangle for my beloved, Mr. Excitement. It’s 3.5 x 3.5 inches. I had Mr. E. cut some up some colored manila folders for me into Zentangle tiles to take on this trip. Fortunately, one of them was red. It’s not the most original idea, but here’s what I came up with for the Valentangle challenge:

Zentangle Diva's Valentangle challenge

Yep. That’s the Caribbean peeking out behind my Valentangle.

As long as we’re being mushy this week, I’ll share a blog post I did while tripping down Memory Lane one day. Somehow I managed to work in “groceries” and a kiss. You can find it here.

I’m looking forward to checking out what other tanglers came up with. Meanwhile,

Are you likely to tangle any Valentines this year for anyone?

You know what? I was sort of seeing you as a long distance friend but, after peeping at the Caribbean behind your tile, I’m not feeling quite so friendly! Envy is one of the Seven Deadly Sins, you know. However, I have to say I like the tile. I like the traditional idea of his/hers initials in a red heart and your patterns are lovely. So I may forgive you for being in the warm and sultry seas. Eventually.

I hope you still consider me a long distance friend—-just for this week, it’s a little farther and a little warmer. My recollection is that someone (who shall remain nameless) visited Cyprus not all that long ago.

Love your hearts on the red. Great tangles.

Despite the fact that it’s snowing here…AGAIN…and I hate you mightily, (OK, I’m just cold and jealous), I really like your loving interpretation and the improvised red tile. A lot of really fun things are happening in those hearts. Mr. Excitement is a lucky guy! Enjoy your cruise…and don’t worry…it will still be snowing when you get back 🙂

Suzanne, Mr. Excitement is indeed a lucky guy—if I do say so myself 😉 Our hometown, Philadelphia, has dodged most of the snow, but it has been plenty cold. (Those Canadians keep exporting their polar vortex thing.) Tangling is definitely best done on a cruise ship between January and April.

Awesome Tile, Suzanne. Wonderful design. I enjoyed trying to name all of the patterns you used. I failed, but had fun all the same. Enjoy your Cruise and soak in all that wonderful vacation experience.

Your valentangle is really beautiful and you used so many patterns in your hearts 🙂
But your background is a little bit cruel… It’s could and rainy and cloudy in germany and I would really prefer to be in the sun too ;-)))
Have a wonderful time!

Your Mr. E. will be pleased with this card! There is a lot of love woven into it.

I think the rest of the Canadians spend their winters here in AZ. I just love the slight accent, and what friendly people! I’m glad you are enjoying yourself and that you had a little time to tangle too. Mr. E will love his hearts from his sweetie 🙂

ahhhh…I can see where you would want to escape the East Coast weather for warmer waters! I am headed to the Uk, but read somewhere that there is a special from LAX to Maui through March 12, sigh. BUT Wow…what a lovely valentangle! Really like how you did the black on red card for the occasion. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

I love your collection of hearts. Flux and Pokeroot frame it beautifully.

We just went down into the deep freeze again with the below zero stuff, so I so have vacation envy right now, but also hope that you are having a marvelous time! I love your Valentangle! Enjoy your Valentine’s day and your time away!

And yes I am tangling some valentines. One for my hubby, and some others for friends and family.

Love your Valentangle, especially done on the red paper with only black pen. It’s beautiful, and I guess I should probably add my voice to the jealousy, except it’s been around 50-60 degrees Farenheit here in Utah and we don’t have any snow in the valleys, only the tops of the mountains. Enjoy your vacation and enjoy all that lovely heat and water around you 🙂

Like your Flux up the side of your tile. Enjoy your cruise. You know that every one is envious. Or at least the ones that in the north.

Happy V-day! I hope your cruise is going well! I saw your photos on FB and I think you are looking well-rested and chirpy! (Can you believe how near we already are to April?!!)

I know. However, it’s hard to think that April is around the corner when it’s 0 degrees Farhenheit (-18 Celsius) with a windchill of minus 8 F (-22 C).
