The Zentangle Diva’s Weekly Challenge #183— “UMT – X-Did” by Annette Carlo

by Suzanne Fluhr on September 2, 2014 · 10 comments

The Diva posted the weekly challenge on Tuesday this week because of the holiday (Labor Day) yesterday. I think  quite a few of the regulars might miss it. However, I kept looking to see if she posted something because the Diva’s Weekly Challenge is now a sub-addiction to my general Zentangle and Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA) addiction.

Apparently, there’s a tradition that for the first week of the month, the Diva posts a challenge called “UMT”—Use My Tangle. So, other tanglers have submitted their tangles to her to consider. This week, she is using the “X-Did” by Zentangler, Annette Carlo.  I don’t think I did a great job with that particular tangle, but I was able to add it to a WIP (work in progress) and I kind of like the result (if I might be so bold given my relative newbieness to this form of expression).  So, without further ado…………..

If I manage next week’s challenge, it will be from Germany. We leave on Saturday. Mr. Excitement has a conference in Munich (the European Respiratory Society) and then we’re tacking on visits to Vienna and Budapest.

Tangle on!

I think your is very well done. No need for rulers here. I tried to add mine to a tile that was already in progress and did the half triangles upside down. So, I had to invent another new tangle 🙂

I keep looking at the tile, trying to see what it is about it that makes it work so well. I’ll keep looking because I haven’t got it yet but, whatever it is, I like it.

Wow. I love this Tile. It literally pops off the page. Beautiful use of black. Excellent shading, and plenty of negative space. Your design breathes with life. Love it.

Suzanne, I love the movement in your tile! And you did a wonderful job with ‘X-DID’! It is one of those tangles that is pretty forgiving! Thank you so much for giving it a try! :0) Annette Share humanity

Nice way to fit this one it. I like the boldness in most of your tangles. Your beads around the outside is a nice embellishment and way to separate the different sections.
