Zentangle Diva’s Weekly Challenge #185 (Budapest, Hungary Edition)

by Suzanne Fluhr on September 15, 2014 · 19 comments

The Diva’s challenge this week was to create  a “duotangle” using only Phicops and DivaDance. I’m still a relative newbie at tangling, having never attended a Zentangle class, so I had never worked with either of these tangles before. That’s OK. It forced me to learn two new tangles and to simplify. I completed this challenge in much less time than the others I’ve tried. I was also working under less than optimal conditions since I am in bed with Mr. Excitement in a hotel in Budapest, Hungary and he’s sleeping, so I had to keep lighting to a minimum. (I must say, I am in awe of and jealous of the man’s ability to sleep under virtually any conditions. I’m afraid I’m much more demanding of my bed partner when I’m trying to sleep). Here’s what I came up with: Zentangle Diva's weekly challenge #185 Phicops and Diva's Dance   Ever since I started tangling, I’ve started seeing tangle patterns wherever I go. Budapest has been no exception.

What’s the farthest from home that you’ve undertaken a Zentangle or Zentangle Inspired Art?

I really like what you came up with for your duotangle. I love the squiggle shading too. Those pictures from Budapest were so much fun for me to see as my grandparents came here from there and I probably still have family there. I hope you are enjoying their wonderful cuisine!

Thanks, Jean. We have been enjoying the food here in Budapest. I definitely prefer it to what we ate in Munich and Vienna.

Hi Suzanne, Can’t believe you’ve not done these patterns before. I didn’t see butterflies, I see cockle shells and the wave marked sea bed. Furthest from home I’ve evr tangled? Crete. While you’re in Europe, go there, it’s lovely.

Which reminds me, does your trip nclude the UK? If so, maybe we could meet?

Thanks, Maggibee. I love meeting up with on line friends IRL (in real life). I met 2 in Germany on this trip and have met others in Hawaii and Canada. I lived in England for a year growing up. My father was an exchange teacher in Devizes, Wiltshire. Unfortunately, we won’t be in England on this trip. By all means, let me know if you’re ever in Philadelphia. Cheers.

I love your tile, it’s so playful.
The farthest from home that I did a zentangle is for me at JFK airport in New York. (I’m from the Netherlands…)

I love being able to tangle waiting in airports and on airplanes.

Nice tile 🙂 I like how bold your clustered Phicops look, and that your Diva Dance is “softening the edges” 🙂

P.S. I am a newbie to Zentangles too 😛

Your tangle today reminds me of palm fronds waving in a sultry breeze. I like the way the Diva Dance is spaced out from the Phicops with a buffer of white. Good idea to photograph designs IRL around you.

Gloria, here in Budapest, tangles are everywhere I turn. I love it.

You did great on this. Like the auraing and The boldness of Phicops. Your pictures show a couple of tangles, Beeline, Knightsbridge, Annee, and Bales. I think the triangles is similar to another tangle. Not sure of the name, but think it is something like arrowhead. You could use them all to make a Budapest tile.

Hmm. Interesting idea. We’ve been doing and will be doing a lot of traveling and I tangle wherever we go. Perhaps I should start incorporating what I’m seeing around me more.

Your tile is great. I like all the texture, and the balance. Well done.
