This week, inspired by her summer home near Sarasota, Florida, home of the Ringling Brothers circus, summer substitute Zentangle Diva, CZT Lee Darter challenged us to use two specific tangles and to choose a third to complete a three ring circus. The required two tangles are Cack by Adele Bruno and Tropicana by Kate Ahrens. For the third, we had a choice of Linq by Lara Williams and Fescu. I chose Linq, a new tangle for me. Actually, this week’s challenge was a trifecta of newness. Like a good little Zentangle person, I recovered from a “mistake”, there being no mistakes in Zentangle. Do I get a gold star from the Mother Ship?
Here’s what I came up with:
Meanwhile, we’re living in heat advisory land at the moment. In Philadelphia, the heat index is over 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37+ Celsius). It’s not much better “down the shore” here in Brigantine, New Jersey where Dino and I are hanging out. It’s a good day to stay inside where it’s air conditioned and tangle.
For any of you who are armchair travelers, my travel blog post this week is a book review of The Philadelphia Liberty Trail, a guide to the historic district of Philadelphia, an area said to be “the most historic square mile in America”. While that might sound a tad hyperbolic, the City of Brotherly Love (and Sisterly Affection) is well worth a visit—IMHO. If you are inspired to take a trip here, let me know and maybe we can meet IRL (in real life)!
Have you ever visited Philadelphia?

Hey a ladder going up to the roof of the circus tent – A real good interpretation of the challenge!
This is gorgeous! I really like the tangleation of Cack. As for the gold star – well, you get one from me. If that counts for anything. ^_^
very nice tile
I love the way you have crossed the tile. This is just awesome! I see no mistakes! Gold stars all around!
I never visites Philadelphia, yet 😉
Lovely tile, I really like the curly Linq lines. Tropicana is looking great too.
Well Suzanne, that’s a great tile. I’m especially appreciative of the Linqs. (I chickened out of them as I’ve never used it before. I also like the way you have patterned inside the circles of Cack. It is my intention to keep as much of May 2016 empty in the hope that we can meet up.
Very very nice tile.
Nice work! I’m about to begin this tile, looking around for inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
This tile is simply joyous! Yes, a gold star is on the way to you I’m sure LOL! And, yes, I have been to Philadelphia. I was very young and only remember standing in line forever to see the Liberty Bell. I couldn’t understand, at that time, why I waited so long to see something that was broken and that you couldn’t even touch. Kids, huh?
Gold stars from me, for sure! I don’t see anything that remotely resembles a mistake and you did a great job with Linq.
This tile is gorgeous!!!
This is a very nice tile.. I love it, that Tropicana looks like a ladder into the circus skye…
Great movement here, Suzanne – and of a definite ‘circusy’ nature. Love it. Axxx
Love what you did with Cack and Linq. These were new to me as well, and quite challenging! I am also in the Philly area. Seems like we get nothing but rain or extreme heat this summer!
Beautiful tile 🙂
It is such a pleasure to see my pattern used. Thank you for this gift at this time in my life. You are a Rock Star!
A lively interpretation of the magic of a circus.
